1.5 carat asscher is approximately 6.5mm square on the face up. The step cut makes the stone read larger than its weight because the surface is unbroken by faceting. Substantial without being heavy. One size fits all ear sizes.

What is an asscher cut? + Asscher is a square step cut with octagonal corners, developed in 1902 by Joseph Asscher in the Netherlands. It uses parallel rectangular facets that produce the famous hall of mirrors effect, infinite reflections looking into the stone. Unlike brilliant cuts which scatter light into sparkle, asscher organizes light into long flashes. It became the defining cut of the Art Deco era and is associated with Elizabeth Taylor's famous 33-carat Krupp diamond.
Why does grade matter more on an asscher? + Asscher's step cut acts like a window into the stone. The wide parallel facets show inclusions and color tint far more visibly than the busy faceting of a round brilliant. A G or H color round looks bright. A G or H color asscher looks visibly warm. Are lab grown diamonds real diamonds? + Yes. Lab grown diamonds are chemically, physically, and optically identical to mined diamonds.
