The Best Lab Diamond Jewellery Under 2,000

Under two thousand dollars is where most people actually shop, and it is the range where the difference between a good buy and a poor one is largest.

8 minute read·Published August 27, 2026·Last updated August 27, 2026

Prices read from the Draco Diamond catalogue on August 27, 2026, in Canadian dollars at the 10K gold base unless stated. Catalogue counts taken from active products on the same date. Pieces currently listed at a promotional price are excluded. Every diamond is IGI certified at E to F colour and VS2 or better.

Sixty four pieces in the Draco catalogue sit under CAD 2,000. That is 39 percent of the 163 active products, which makes this the largest single band in the range rather than an entry level afterthought.

It matters that the certification does not change across that line. Everything here is IGI certified at E to F colour and VS2 or better, the same standard as the pieces at ten times the price. What changes below CAD 2,000 is carat weight and complexity, not quality.

That is the useful frame for shopping this range. You are not choosing between good diamonds and compromised ones. You are choosing how to spend a fixed amount of carat weight, and the main way people waste money here is by buying a more impressive object than the one they will actually wear.

The list

Which pieces are the strongest buys?

The strongest pieces under CAD 2,000, by category
Category Piece Price CAD Why it earns the slot
Stud earrings 1ctw round brilliant 711 The entry point to certified diamonds
Stud earrings 4ctw round brilliant 1,699 Best cost per carat in the range
Pendant 0.60ct halo 1,199 Reads as jewellery, not as a chip
Hoop earrings 1ctw inside out 1,401 Diamonds on both faces
Anniversary ring 1ct seven stone 1,488 Round, oval or emerald, same price
Tennis bracelet 3ctw VS2 or better 1,801 The only tennis bracelet under the line
Engagement ring 2ct round hidden halo 1,982 Two carats, certified, under the line

Seven pieces earn a slot, one per category, and each for a specific reason rather than because it is the cheapest thing in its aisle.

Stud earrings, 1ctw at CAD 711. The entry point to certified diamonds and the piece most likely to be worn daily for a decade. Half a carat in each ear reads clearly without being a statement.

Stud earrings, 4ctw at CAD 1,699. The best cost per carat anywhere under the line at CAD 425 per carat. If the goal is maximum certified diamond for the money, this is the answer and it is not close.

Tennis bracelet, 3ctw at CAD 1,801. The only tennis bracelet that fits under CAD 2,000. Tennis bracelets carry the highest average order value at Draco, and this is the entry to that category.

Engagement ring, 2ct hidden halo at CAD 1,982. Two carats, IGI certified at E colour VVS2, under the line with room to spare. This is the single most striking thing about the range.

4 carat total weight round brilliant lab grown diamond stud earrings, IGI certified, Draco Diamond
The 4 carat studs at CAD 1,699, or CAD 425 per carat. The best value in the range by a clear margin.

Anniversary ring, 1ct seven stone at CAD 1,488. Available in round, oval and emerald cut at exactly the same price, which is a useful demonstration that shape is not costing you anything here.

Hoops, 1ctw inside out at CAD 1,401, with diamonds set on both the outer and inner faces, and a 0.60 carat halo pendant at CAD 1,199 on a 16 inch chain.

Cost per carat is the only measure that lets you compare across categories, and it moves in one direction: down, as total weight rises.

The 1 carat studs cost CAD 711 per carat. The 4 carat studs cost CAD 425 per carat, a 40 percent improvement for the same cut, the same certification and the same setting style. Nothing about the stones is different except that there are more of them.

"Cost per carat is the only number that lets you compare a bracelet against a pair of studs. Under CAD 2,000 it moves by 40 percent across the same product line."

Garrett McMartin, Founder, Draco Diamond

The caveat is that this only holds within a product line. A bracelet is not a worse buy than studs because its cost per carat is higher; it is a different object with more settings, more labour and a clasp. Use cost per carat to choose between sizes of the same thing, and use judgement to choose between categories.

04
The lever

How do you get more carat for the same money?

Metal at Draco is a fixed percentage of the 10K gold base, and it is the largest single lever available in this range.

Sterling silver runs 30 percent below the base. On the CAD 1,801 tennis bracelet that frees CAD 540. On the CAD 1,699 studs it frees CAD 510. In a range where a whole pendant costs CAD 1,199, that is not a rounding difference; it is most of a second piece.

The honest counterpoint is that silver is softer and tarnishes, and on a piece worn every day for years that shows. If the piece is a tennis bracelet worn daily, gold is the better long term choice. If it is something worn occasionally, silver puts the money into the stones where it is visible.

Going the other way, 14K adds 18 percent, 18K adds 38 percent and platinum adds 45 percent. In this range those upgrades usually cost more carat weight than they are worth, which is a different calculation from the one at CAD 10,000. Colour is free at any karat.

05
The mistakes

What should you avoid at this level?

Four things waste money in this range more reliably than anything else.

Paying a premium for shape. You should not be. The seven stone anniversary ring is CAD 1,488 in round, oval and emerald alike, because grown stones are produced to specification rather than cut from found rough. If a shape carries a premium somewhere, ask what is producing it.

Buying uncertified accent stones. A report covers the centre stone. On any piece with accents, ask whether the accents meet the same standard, because a materially lower accent quality is invisible on paper and visible on the hand.

Buying the photograph rather than the piece. Macro photography flatters small stones enormously. A 0.12 carat ring can fill a listing image. Check the actual carat weight and the actual dimensions before deciding what you are looking at.

Buying the impressive object instead of the worn one. This is the expensive one. Studs and a pendant get worn several hundred times a year. A statement ring bought at the top of a budget often does not. Cost per wear is the number that matters and nobody prints it.

Under CAD 2,000 the interesting pieces carry their value in design rather than in weight.
06
The method

How do you buy under CAD 2,000?

01Decide whether you are buying carat weight or a finished look

Under CAD 2,000 you can have four carats of stud earrings or a two carat certified engagement ring, and you cannot have both. Naming which one you actually want first removes most of the catalogue immediately.

02Go up in weight rather than down, if the piece allows it

Cost per carat falls as total weight rises. The 4 carat studs are CAD 425 per carat and the 1 carat pair is CAD 711 per carat. Stepping up is cheaper per carat than most buyers assume.

03Use silver to buy carats rather than metal

Sterling silver runs 30 percent below the 10K gold base on every piece. On a CAD 1,801 bracelet that frees CAD 540, which is most of the way to a second piece. If maximum stone matters more than the mount, this is the biggest lever available.

04Check that shape is not costing you anything

It should not. The 1 carat seven stone anniversary ring lists at CAD 1,488 in round, oval and emerald. If a shape carries a premium somewhere, ask why before paying it.

05Confirm the certification covers what you think it does

Every Draco diamond is IGI certified at E to F colour and VS2 or better. On any piece with accent stones, ask whether the accents are graded to the same standard as the centre.

06Buy the piece that gets worn

The most common mistake in this range is buying the most impressive object rather than the one that suits daily life. Studs and a pendant get worn hundreds of times a year. A statement ring often does not.

Every Draco diamond is IGI certified at E to F colour and VS2 or better and ships with its certificate; the report can be provided on request before purchase and verified free at IGI.org. Every piece carries 30 day returns, the Lifetime Authenticity Guarantee, free resizing, and free insured worldwide shipping to 25 markets with signature on delivery.

Nothing is held in finished inventory, so a specification that is not in the catalogue is a change of brief rather than a bespoke surcharge. Browse everything under CAD 2,000, or send a competing quote and Draco will price directly against it.

FAQ
Common questions

Buying under 2,000: FAQ

What is the best lab grown diamond jewellery under CAD 2,000?

By category: 1 carat round brilliant studs at CAD 711, 4 carat studs at CAD 1,699 for the best cost per carat, a 0.60 carat halo pendant at CAD 1,199, 1 carat inside out hoops at CAD 1,401, a 1 carat seven stone anniversary ring at CAD 1,488, a 3 carat tennis bracelet at CAD 1,801 and a 2 carat hidden halo engagement ring at CAD 1,982.

How much of the Draco catalogue is under CAD 2,000?

Sixty four pieces, which is 39 percent of the 163 active products. Certification does not change across that line: everything is IGI certified at E to F colour and VS2 or better. What changes is carat weight and complexity.

Can you get a 2 carat certified diamond engagement ring under CAD 2,000?

Yes. The 2 carat round brilliant hidden halo engagement ring is CAD 1,982 at the 10K gold base, IGI certified at E colour VVS2.

What gives the best value per carat under CAD 2,000?

The 4 carat stud earrings at CAD 1,699, which works out at CAD 425 per carat. The 1 carat pair is CAD 711 per carat for the same cut and certification, so cost per carat improves by 40 percent as you step up in weight.

Does choosing a different diamond shape cost more?

Not at Draco. The 1 carat seven stone anniversary ring lists at CAD 1,488 in round, oval and emerald cut alike, because grown stones are produced to specification rather than cut from found rough.

How can I get more carat weight for the same budget?

Choose sterling silver, which runs 30 percent below the 10K gold base on every piece. On the CAD 1,801 tennis bracelet that frees CAD 540. The trade is that silver is softer and tarnishes, so it suits occasional wear better than daily wear.

Is a tennis bracelet available under CAD 2,000?

Yes, one. The 3 carat VS2 or better tennis bracelet is CAD 1,801 in 14K white gold, and it is the only tennis bracelet in the catalogue that fits under the line.
